Math 124 Prelminary Test Information
Fall 2007

In order to be success in Calculus you must be able to perform the computations in addition to understanding and applying the concepts. Students who continue to make algebraic and trigonometric errors will have difficulty solving problems (in addition to lowering their grade). One way to address this issue is to give a preliminary test covering the common algebraic errors that students make in Math 124.

If you would like to prepare for the preliminary test that will be given in your Math 124 class, we recommend an on-line review at
http://prep.math.lsa.umich.edu/pmc . You will find a review of precalculus topics that are needed for success in calculus. The preliminary test will only focus on the algebraic skills covered in sections 1-7. The remaining topics in the review will be needed throughout the course. A paper version of the on-line review is available at the Student Union Memorial Bookstore (called Class Notes for Math 124/125/129).
