Transferring college-level math credit to the UA
You may be able to transfer math credits obtained at other colleges or high school dual-credit to
the UA. Either way, the procedure is essentially the same and
is described on this page. You can only transfer credits from courses in
which you obtained a grade of C or better. Courses at the Introductory or Intermediate Algebra level will not receive credit. Equivalency will be granted only if the
typical content of the UA course was completely covered in the transferred courses. Thus, courses with the same titles may not be equivalent.
The credits may show up on your SAPR, but must be listed as a UA course (MATH 110, MATH 111, etc.) in the Foundation Mathematics portion of our SAPR to count for
your graduation requirement. If these math transfer courses appear in the Additional Course Work or Excluded Course Work section of your SAPR at a T-number (MATHT001, etc.), you need to request an evaluation of transfer
credit.
For courses held inside Arizona
-
Information on how the course will transfer is given in the
Arizona
Transfer Course Equivalence Guide.
-
After completing the course, you must instruct
the outside institution to
send your transcripts directly to the UA Registrar's Office.
-
How to view your SAPR
You can view your Student Academic Progress Report (SAPR) in
Student Link.
(Be sure to generate a new SAPR if you believe
information to be out of date.)
Once received, processed, and accepted by the Registrar's Office,
the credit should appear in the your SAPR (where it
can be used to meet course requirements). Once credit appears in your SAPR,
you may
request a math placement review to obtain
an updated math placement code if you plan to take a UA math
course or other course that requires a math placement code.
-
But if the credit instead appears in the Additional Course Work or Excluded Course Work
Section of your SAPR in the form of a T-number (MathT001, for example),
then you must request an Arizona math equivalency
evaluation. As part of that
evaluation, your math placement code will be updated.
For courses held outside Arizona (or outside the United States)
-
If you have not yet taken the outside course, then
you should avoid surprises and delays by first requesting
the course to be evaluated for pre-approval.
-
After completing the course, you must instruct
the outside institution to
send your transcripts directly to the UA Registrar's Office.
-
How to view your SAPR
You can view your Student Academic Progress Report (SAPR) in

Once received, processed, and accepted by the Registrar's Office,
the credits will most likely appear in the Additional Course Work or Excluded Course Work section of your SAPR in the
form of a T-number (MathT001, for example).
To get the credits into the correct section of your SAPR (where they can be
used to meet course requirements),
you must request a math equivalency evaluation.
If you obtained pre-approval (see first step) prior to taking the outside
course, this request will be honored rapidly.
-
We will automatically update your math placement code
when the math equivalency evaluation is completed.
