Free Practice Test
The Practice test is optional and cannot be used for UA Placement. The practice test is for demonstration purposes only and the assessment is not valid. Students should familarize themselves with the general format of the test.
This option allows for three free hours of use of the ALEKS program. Follow the steps below to log on to the ALEKS website to familiarize yourself with the program and take an assessment.
The UA ALEKS assessment test is a customized test and is different from the free practice test. Scores on the practice test in no way guarantee any particular score on the UA Assessment Test. Review is recommended for all students.
Access the UA ALEKS Online Assessment through the Math Placement Webpage.
Students need to know which test to take, based on the requirement for their UA major. See the general recommendations based on major.

Your 3 hours accumulate only when you are logged in. - Complete the "Answer Editor Tutorial" that shows how to type in responses (the test is not multiple choice).
- You will then be given an assessment.
Note: If you log out at any time, you will always return to the same spot when you log back in. - Upon completing the assessment, ALEKS will show your pie charts and scores in each area. Note that none of the information here is accurate.
To Interpret your Assessment results:
- Calculate your score by determining the percentage of topics completed out of the total topics in the practice test (number of topics completed divided by total number of topics). These numbers should be included above the pie chart displayed after completing the assessment.
- You should restart your computer before taking the UA Online Placement Test.
NOTE: This 'free trial' is not meant to be an all-encompassing preparation for the placement test. It is simply a way to familiarize yourself with the ALEKS program and to get an idea of what the test will be like.
