The Department of Mathematics and the Program in Applied Mathematics are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a second 5-year VIGRE award of $3,500,000 by the National Science Foundation's Division of Mathematical Sciences. The University of Arizona is one of only a handful of Universities to have been awarded two VIGRE grants since the NSF started this prestigious program in 1998.
Our VIGRE Program has resources for:
The VIGRE program (Vertical Integration of Research and Education) provides support for training graduate students, undergraduates, and post-doctoral fellows, with the aim of increasing the number of well-prepared US citizens and permanent residents who pursue careers in the mathematical sciences. The Arizona VIGRE program will provide its current and future students with a comprehensive range of educational, research, and professional development experiences; competitive packages of financial support; and a unique outreach program for faculty and students at regional institutions. Generous support from the University of Arizona administration will enable these activities to be sustained over the long term.
