Academic Year 2007-08 Three-year Arizona Teacher Initiative Research/Teaching Post-doc Faculty Positions


Overview

The Department of Mathematics at The University of Arizona announces an opening for two three-year, non-tenure-track research/teaching post-doctoral position beginning Fall 2007. This position is part of the NSF-funded Arizona Teacher Iniative, ATI.(EHR- 0634532)

Institute fellows will follow the same pattern as the Department's Teaching Post-Docs, but will concentrate on the preparation of future teachers and the professional development of in-service teachers. The first year will be an orientation year in which the Postdoctoral Fellows will take part in the Proseminar on Mathematics and Teaching, observe classes in the teaching option s program, meet regularly with a faculty mentor to reflect on this observation, and teach regular classes in the department. In the second year they will take responsibility for teaching either a mathematics course in the s program or one of the s courses in its Mathematics Education major. In the third year they will teach a class without supervision, and function as mentors for incoming Postdoctoral Fellows.
