Overview

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona invites applications for a three-year, non-tenure-track teaching post-doctoral position. They are similar to post-doctoral positions in research except that the emphasis is on teaching and scholarly activities pertaining to teaching. Teaching postdocs have the opportunity to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses and to participate in departmental activities such as research seminars, curriculum reform, projects with undergraduates, and outreach activities such as teacher training programs. This postdoc program, initiated in 1997, is ideal for those planning to teach at a four-year college or master's degree granting institution.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities are to teach up to nine units per semester across the full spectrum of lower and upper division courses, to maintain a program of mathematics research or of scholarly activities and outreach relating to teaching, and to participate fully in the activities of the Department.

Qualifications

By the time of the appointment, candidates are expected to have a PhD in Mathematics. In addition, they should have a commitment to teaching and either a strong research record or a strong record of scholarly activities relating to teaching.

Compensation

An academic year salary of $45,000, plus a $1,000 moving allowance, plus a $1,500 professional travel allowance during the program.
