The SQG family as Euler-Arnold equations

These active scalar equations interpolate between the 2D Euler and the standard surface quasi-geostrophic equation. They arise as geodesic equations of homogeneous Sobolev Hβ/2 metrics on the subgroup of exact diffeomorphisms. I will discuss some recent results on analytic properties of the associated exponential map.
