Markov model for diffusion through porous media

Field and laboratory observations of the transport of solutes through a porous medium frequently suggest that the diffusion is non-fickian. This talk will present a computational framework for simulating the trajectories of a passive solute using a divergence preserving interpolation scheme. Data from the simulations are used to develop a low-parameter continuous time Markov chain (CTMC) model to understand and predict the extent of the anomalous diffusion.
