Open Quantum Systems: Optical Detection Theory as predicted by the Quantum Ito Calculus

This talk will cover a derivation of a formula for the basic, physically measurable, current in a detector from the abstract Quantum Ito Calculus of Hudson & Parthasarathy, for an arbitrary quantum optical system interacting with an idealized, but nonetheless physically applicable, model of the environment. The majority of the material will come from a 1990 paper by Alberto Barchielli with some numerical results interspersed.
