Vertex Operator Algebras, Modular Forms and Black Holes

Vertex Operator Algebras (VOA) are connected to many areas of mathematics, such as lattices, modular forms, group theory, and mathematical physics. After giving a brief introduction to VOAs, I will present new constructions of families of VOAs from lattices and their orbifolds by automorphism groups, especially permutation groups. A particular focus will be on new results on the growth of Fourier coefficients of their associated modular and Siegel modular forms. I will also explain how these constructions can help us understand the physics of black holes.
