The role of climate in infectious disease dynamics in Bangladesh

The role of climate in infectious disease dynamics in Bangladesh

Series: Quantitative Biology Colloquium
Location: Math 402
Presenter: Hannah Biegel, Department of Mathematics, University of Arizona

This talk will provide an introduction to Mercedes Pascual’s recent work on climate forcing and its role in infectious disease dynamics. In particular, we will discuss climate forcing in relation to rotavirus, which has not been shown to have an environmentally driven transmission pathway and compare these results to cholera, whose transmission is environmentally driven. Additionally, we will discuss differences in disease dynamics within a city due to demographic heterogeneity.
