Access our intranet and MathSciNet from anywhere!
Background information:
The machine coatimundi runs an authenticating web proxy called squid. It is configured to ask for your username/password, after which, for approximately 30 minutes, when you surf the internet, websites will believe you are accessing them from within the math department. Thus you will be able to access our intranet, as well as MathSciNet (and other subscription-based services paid for by the university or by our department).
Advantages:
- Enables you to access resources in situations where you otherwise cannot access them.
Disadvantages:
- You might be asked for your username/password every 30 minutes.
How to use coatimundi:
To enable use of coatimundi, use the following values in your browser's proxy settings:
- set the HTTP proxy to: coatimundi.math.arizona.edu
- set the port to: 80
Be sure to undo the above (i.e., tell your browser to stop using coatimundi as a proxy) as soon as you are done accessing our intranet and/or MathSciNet.
