How to declare a math major or minor

Math Major

You officially declare a major in Mathematics by contacting the Math Center to schedule an appointment with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator and Advisor.

When you meet with the Undergraduate Program Coordinator and Advisor, you will get general information and advising about the various tracks of the major.  The Math Center also assigns faculty advisors to students for more personalized in-depth advising. In addition, you may want to ask for information about opportunities for math majors to get involved in research experiences, internships, campus activities (including the MathCats), and career exploration.

Math Minor

To officially declare a minor in Mathematics or in Mathematics Teaching, send your request by e-mail to the Math Center (click the link for a Contact Us form or send directly to mcenter@math.arizona.edu; please include your ID number). Your major advisor can also add the math minor for you.  Degree requirements for a minor may be found on our online Degrees & Minors pages.
