CALCULATORS  Students are expected to have a working calculator for each test and exam.  No calculator swapping is permitted during testing periods.  The use of calculators that perform symbolic algebra, such as the TI-92 or the TI-89, will NOT be allowed on quizzes or exams.

HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES: Homework will be assigned daily.  Homework is an essential component of the course.  To be successful, a student must complete all assigned homework.  The homework is due at the beginning of the class.  Selected problems will be graded.  No late homework will be accepted.  If you miss a class under any circumstances, it is your responsibility to find the due dates.  The assignment should be neatly written and the multiple pages should be stapled together.  Otherwise it will not be graded.  To get full credit all problems should be thoroughly explained.  If you know you will be absent, you may turn homework in early.  Announced and unannounced quizzes may be given.  There will be no make-up allowed on the quizzes.

EXAMS:  Please do not arrange to leave town prior to this date as this exam will only be given on the date scheduled by the University. The University's Exam regulations for final exam week will be strictly followed, in particular those regarding students with multiple exams on a single day, see the registrars website.

MISSED EXAMS:  Make-up exams will be given only for an unavoidable and documented absence.  The student must contact the instructor PRIOR to the exam to be eligible for a make-up.  There will be no make-ups allowed on the quizzes.

GRADES:
    300 Test points + 200 Final Exam points + 100 Homework points = 600 Total points.

The following scale for semester averages is guaranteed not to be raised:
          90-100% (points>539)  A
          80-89% (479< points<539)    B
          70-79% (419< points<479)    C
          60-69% (359< points<419)    D
          0-59% (points<359)      E

WITHDRAWAL:  The student may withdraw from the course with a deletion from record through July 15.  A student may withdraw with a “W” through July 31.

ATTENDANCE:  Students are expected to attend every scheduled class.  Students with more than three unexcused absences may be administratively dropped from the course.  It is the student’s responsibility to keep informed of any announcements, syllabus adjustments or policy changes made during scheduled classes.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:  Students are responsible to inform themselves of University policies regarding the Code of Academic Integrity.  Students found in violation of the Code are subject to penalties ranging from loss of credit for work involved to a grade of E in the course, and possibly risk suspension or probation.  The Code of Academic Integrity will be enforced in all areas of the course, including, but not limited to, tests and quizzes.  For more information about the Code of Academic Integrity policies and procedures, including information about your rights and responsibilities as a student, see http://w3.arizona.edu/~studpubs/policies/cacaint.htm.

CLASSROOM CONDUCT:  Students at the University of Arizona are expected to conform to the standards of conduct established in the Student Code of Conduct.  For more information on the Student Code of Conduct, including a complete list of prohibited conduct see http://info-center.ccit.arizona.edu/~studpubs/policies/studcofc.htm.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES:  If you anticipate issues related to the format or requirements of this course, please meet with me to discuss ways to ensure your full participation in the course.  If you determine that formal, disability-related accomodations are necessary, it is very important that you be registered with Disability Resources (621-3268; drc.arizona.edu).
