|Bio:||Mary has a Masters' Degree from the College of Santa Fe in the Education of At-Risk Youth. She has an educational background in both physical science and computer science and taught mathematics at the elementary level. She is currently a doctoral student in the TESL program at the University of New Mexico. Mary is almost finished with her coursework. |
Her professional interests include working with parents, families, and communities and incorporating mathematics education into adult ESL programs. She is involved in a CEMELA research study based on teaching and learning mathematics in a kindergarten setting, as well as in professional development for elementary teachers in CGI, parental outreach with mathematics training, and a longitudinal study involving 5th grade students and their families. Mary is preparing to present her dissertation proposal for Bilingual/ESL program in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies in early 2008.
