- University of Illinois at Chicago Spring 2006 Seminars
At UIC-CEMELA, the seminars are best described as working groups. The purpose of the working groups is to create an environment where participants engage in collaborative problem solving (allowing for "organic" development of knowledge) and to create an avenue whereby novice researchers/teacher educators collaborate with more experienced researchers/teacher educators. We have basically two working groups: 1) what we call the business meeting where everyone discusses the purpose of CEMELA, its themes, its areas of research, and its operations; 2) what we call the after-school research group where we more specifically focus on theoretical and practical concerns of the after-school.
