Math 595D: Research in Mathematics Education

The aim of this seminar is to encourage scholarly discussions among graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, teachers, and faculty members on topics in research in mathematics education. Participants will read and discuss research pieces as well as use this forum to present their own research. We will read articles from a variety of sources, including Journal for Research in Mathematics Education, Educational Studies in Mathematics, For the Learning of Mathematics, Mathematical Thinking and Learning, and Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education. Particular emphasis will be placed on research that looks at the interplay of language, culture and mathematics education. Scholars that have expertise in different aspects of this interplay will be invited as guest speakers.
