Time and Location: 3-350 PM in PAS 318.

Instructor:

Textbook: Calculus (Multivariable), Fourth Edition, by Hughes-Hallett et al., published by Wiley.

Course Syllabus
The syllabus will include information about grading policies, calculator policies, exam schedules and policies, etc. You should definitely read it.

Check out, if you want, the webpage for all of the 223 classes . There is all sorts of useful stuff there.
NEW: Here is, I think, a bunch of questions from old exams , and here are the solutions . Feel free to use these, but use them wisely.
Here's a link to a program that makes graphing in three dimensions really easy. I highly reccomend downloading it (i.e the Winplot program). I'll probably be using it from time to time in class.

Homework: Homework assignements will be made weekly in class and posted here.

Here is a VERY approximate schedule of the sections to be covered. The exam dates are locked in, however the specific dates that specific sections will be covered are very approximate.

Announcements:
  • I won't actually be in class the first two days (Wednesday the 11th and Thursday the 12th). But there will be someone covering for me.
  • Monday the 16th of January is Martin Luther King Day, so no class.
  • There will be a Preliminary Test in class on Wednesday, January 18th, covering stuff you should know from Calc I and II.
  • Scratch that last announcement. The preliminary exam will be Thursday, January 19th in class. In addition, there will be a review of methods of differentiation and integration for any interested 223 students on Wednesday the 18th at 530 in room 501 of the math building.
  • The second exam will be Wednesday, March 1st.
