To Check For .NET Framework 1.1

KwikNote requires that Windows XP has been updated by installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. You must have Administrator privileges to update the operating system.

You can check to see if the .NET Framework 1.1 is installed by clicking Start on your Windows desktop, selecting Control Panel, and then double-clicking the Add or Remove Programs icon. When that window appears, scroll through the list of applications. If you see "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1" listed, it is installed.

Alternatively, you can check to see if the .NET Framework 1.1 is installed by downloading the file CheckNET.zip, unzipping it, and running it.

If the .NET Framework 1.1 is not installed, then there are two different ways to install it.

Some have mistakenly downloaded the ".NET Framework SDK Version 1.1", which is the Software Development Kit and is 106 MB. You do NOT need this.

 To Download KwikNote

This is an alpha version of KwikNote. It has received no field testing. It is designed to run under Windows XP if Windows has been updated by installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

 To Install KwikNote

To install KwikNote, unzip InstallKwikNote.zip and run InstallKwikNote.exe. You will be asked where you want to save the KwikNote, and whether you want a shortcut created on the Desktop. KwikNote does not make any changes to your operating system and uninstalls cleanly. It can be run from a hard drive, a zip drive, or a thumb drive (assuming the files created by KwikNote can be saved to folder that contains the application).

 To Run KwikNote

To run KwikNote, either use the shortcut on the Desktop or move to the folder containing the files and select the application KwikNote, that is, KwikNote.exe. Windows must first be updated by installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

If you find any bugs, please cut and paste any error messages, describe what you were doing at the time, and email this information, together with the KwikNote version number, to me: David Lovelock at dsl@math.arizona.edu. Thank you.

 To Upgrade KwikNote

To upgrade, make sure that KwikNote is not running and then overwrite the old KwikNote files with the upgraded KwikNote files.

 To Uninstall KwikNote

To uninstall KwikNote, delete the folder containing the KwikNote files, and delete the shortcut on the Desktop.
