CASIE
FAQs about CASIE

- What is the difference between Versions 1.01 and 1.01a of CASIE III?
Nothing as far as the performance of the program is concerned. The Credits file has been updated as have five of the Lost Person Behavior files. The file BIGPLAN.C has been modified.

- How much does CASIE cost?
 Nothing. CASIE is free.

- Do any of you get paid for doing this?
No. We are volunteers, and so donate our time, expertise, and money to this cause.

- Will CASIE run on an old PC?
Yes, as long as you have 640K RAM, and a hard drive. However, CASIE will run faster on a more recent machine.

- Will there be a Windows version of CASIE? newc.gif 34x14
We are pursuing a Windows-based version of CASIE for possible release in 2002. In the meantime, it is possible to continue running CASIE like any other DOS program on Windows 95 and 98 systems. However, users will probably encounter a "Run-Time Error" of some sort or will be stranded at the first panel if they try to run the current (DOS) version of CASIE on a Windows NT or higher operating system. We offer the following "workaround" instructions for those circumstances:
a. First create a bootable disk (with the system files) on a computer running Windows 95 or 98.
b. Do this by putting a blank disk in the A: drive, then right clicking on the "Floppy A:" icon in Windows Explorer to bring up the Format option.
c. Select "Format Type: Full" and check the box to "Copy System Files," and hit "Start." This will create a disk that is bootable in any NT (or higher) machine.
d. Copy all CASIE files onto this disk.
e. Insert the disk into the NT computer’s drive and turn the computer on. Upon bootup on the NT machine, the A:\ prompt should come up.
f. Type the "Runme" command as usual to start CASIE. There should still be plenty of room left on the bootable diskette to handle the POA updates for a reasonable number of operational periods.
g. With today’s Pentium-class machines, there is no problem running multiple windows of CASIE simultaneously under Windows 95 or 98. This is great for a multiple subject search or running resource allocations on a limited number of segments.
These instructions can be downloaded as a Word file.

- Will there be a MAC version of CASIE?
No. However, CASIE does run under most DOS emulators.

- Is CASIE Y2K compliant?
 Yes.

- CASIE’s URL or website address is pretty long. Isn't there an easier way to get to the website? newc.gif 34x14
Yes. Simply type "go.to/casie" in your browser’s window (without the quotation marks, and skip the http:// and www stuff) and you will be taken to the CASIE site via a URL redirector service. There is a 10-second delay that can be defeated by clicking on the "I don’t want to wait" link, and you'll be taken to the website immediately.
