Airports: Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) is about 100 miles from Tucson. Although we recommend flying into Tucson directly, there is a shuttle from Phoenix to Tucson: Arizona Shuttle.

Tucson International Airport (TUS) is 10 miles south of Tucson.

Taxi: To get to the hotel, we recommend taking a taxi rather than using the Arizona Stagecoach shared van service (see below). A taxi should be around $25-30 (including tip), which is comparable to the one-way fare of $25 on the Arizona Stagecoach, and much more convenient. If you have not arranged it in advance, look for participants who might want to share a ride when you arrive.

Sun Tran: There are regular buses which run from TUS into downtown Tucson. The fare is $1.50. Buses leave the airport for downtown every half-hour. There is a direct bus line "11 Dodge/Alvernon" which takes around 30 minutes from TUS to the stop in front of the DoubleTree hotel (#10974 ALVERNON @ HAYNE). Click on "11" on this page to see the route and timings. Also, you can click on "Plan Your Trip" here and type in "Airport-Tucson International" and destination "Alvernon @ Hayne" to see this line and other combinations and their timings.
We do not recommend the buses after dark.

Arizona Stagecoach: This service is $25 per person. There is a counter at the airport next to baggage claim. One can also take a taxi. The ride (to the DoubleTree) is about 15 minutes and the fare is between $30 and $40.

Lodging: Most people will be staying at the DoubleTree, 445 South Alvernon Way, Tucson AZ 85711, Tel: (520) 881-4200. The Double Tree is located on the east side of Alvernon Way, across from Reid Park, less than half a mile south of Broadway Blvd. Note that breakfast is included.

Shuttle: Since the hotel is not in walking distance from the university, a shuttle service will be provided by the hotel. In the morning, the first bus will depart at 7:45 am and the last will depart at 8:00 am. 10 minutes after the last lecture, there will be buses waiting to take participants back to the hotel from the conference site. For those wishing to stay longer or even to have dinner in the university area on Sunday, there will be a later pickup at 8pm from the Marriott Hotel lobby (north of University Ave., behind `Gentle Ben's'; here is a map).

Parking: The parking garage closest to ILC 70 (the building where the conference will take place) is Cherry Ave. The garage is at the corner of Cherry Ave and Enke Dr. Here is a map. Parking is free on weekends and $8 per day otherwise.

University of Arizona Campus: Here is a Google map and interactive campus maps.

WIFI: There is free wireless internet on campus using the `guest' login.

Eating out: Several restaurants, 5-10 minutes walk from ILC, can be found on University Blvd. which is immediately West of campus. There is also a food court in the Student Union (closed however on Sunday). On 4th Avenue, there are other places, but they are a longer walk.

Lecture Room: The lectures will be taking place in the Manuel Pacheco Integrated Learning Center, or briefly the Pacheco ILC . (Also see the interactive map.) We will be in Room 140 which is one floor below street level. The room is equipped with white boards and a projector.

Banquet: There will be a conference banquet on the evening of Monday, May 19 at the DoubleTree. The gathering begins at 6:30 with a cash bar, with dinner starting at 7:15. The cost is free for registrants and other interested participants, thanks to a generous subsidy from the Department of Mathematics. Ali Gaona will be emailing you about attending the banquet, and selecting dinner choices.
