Dr. Juan Restrepo presented The Mathematics of Climate and Global Change.

    November 17, 2011

Dr. Restrepo reported about his involvement with a group of scientists in a climate change study. They wanted to determine if the observed changes are human-caused, if their is some other cause, or if the changes are part of a natural cycle of climate.

INTRO JR2 Juan introduced his research. Framing the problem. JR4 JR5 Global mean temperature data shows
a fairly steady increase since 1910. When temperature data is examined more
closely, conclusions are more difficult.

JR6 JR7
Earth's heat fluxes. Ocean facts.

JR8 JR9
The density of sea water. Thermohaline circulation.
