Joseph Stover | Math 160 Section 3 Spring 2008 | Basic Statistics

***Final Exam Review session: Today, Thursday May 8th, 3-5pm in Math East 145. This is the building where the tutoring lab is, just east of the Math building, south of the industrial water cooler thingy.

Here is the Final Exam study guide. It is incomplete and I will try to keep adding stuff to it over the next few days.

Here are some comments on the minitab assignments. I don't have time to discuss this in class, but please look them over and come talk to me if you don't understand them.

I found directions for c 2 Test on the TI 83/84. Scroll down to page 3, "Calculator Note 10E: Performing a Chi-Square Test of Homogeneity or a Chi-Square Test of Independence c 2-Test" It involves entering the matrix[A] into the calculator. From the "Stat > Tests" Menu, you can find all the tests we have done. This can be used to check your work. I will require you to show the calculations however.

Calculator Help

Here is a website with comprehensive TI-83/84 help and tutorials: http://calculator.maconstate.edu/calc_topics.html

===
In order to show the "r" value when doing regression:

CATALOG -> DiagnosticOn

===

To enter a list:

STAT -> EDIT

enter x data in L1 and y data in L2 (can do any list, but is harder)

===

To get summary statistics:

STAT -> CALC -> 1 Var Stats (only for x)
STAT -> CALC -> 2 Var Stats (for x and y)

Sx is the standard deviation.

===

To get a regression line:

STAT -> CALC ->LinReg(ax+b) or LinReg(a+bx) (there are 2 choices, be extremely careful about which one you use)

===

If your lists are not L1 and L2, then you can do the following:

Say x is in L3 and y is in L4:

LinReg(a+bx) L3,L4
2 Var Stats L3,L4

This does it, just have to enter the list names afterward
