MATHEMATICS 596A
Biomathematics Seminar

Fall 2000

See Schedule

Overview. For the fall semester of 2000, the Biomathematics Seminar will consist of student presentations by the advanced members in the class.

Each advanced student is expected to give two presentations each of 40 minutes duration. This topic should be chosen from the student's thesis or dissertation project. The first presentation will be designed to elicit comment and feedback. The second will be designed to be suitable for a research conference. In addition, these students will prepare a paper. This paper can take the format of a research proposal, a research paper, or a thesis chapter.

The beginning students will chose a partner among the advanced students. The students will read a selection of papers chosen in consultation with the advanced student and the course instructor. The beginning students will also prepare a paper on their chosen topic. This paper should attempt to integrate mathematical, physical, and biological issues.

Day to Day Operations. The course meets for lecture each Tuesday from 3:45 to 5:30 in Economics 200.
