Lesson 14.

NOTE 1: Be sure to read Homework Format, Homework Writing Policy, and Explanations Expected BEFORE writing up your solutions to be turned in.

NOTE 2: When two or more Lessons are to be turned in on the same day, please staple the Lessons separately and turn them in separately.
(This is Lesson 14; if another Lesson is due the same day as this Lesson is due, staple the two Lessons separately and turn them in separately.)

Due Friday, September 25

Sect. 4.2:
Be sure to note that there are many more exercises suggested in the suggested homework posted online.

Read the instructions.
For all exercises, if you are asked to find the vertex, do so by completing the square. If you are asked to find other properties of the graph (such as intercepts), do so directly from either the formula given for the function or the formula you obtained by completing the square (don't use some magic formula you don't understand to find properties of the graph).

Exercises 14,  20,  28,  44*,  54**.

*   In Exercise 44, you need to think of the function given as a quadratic function; see examples in the text.

** In Exercise 54, use your answer to find the average rate of change of  f  on an interval  [cd].  (DO NOT do the calculation all over again; use the answer given.)

NOTE 1: Be sure to read Homework Format, Homework Writing Policy, and Explanations Expected BEFORE writing up your solutions to be turned in.

NOTE: As stated on the Course Home Page, all due dates are tentative. Assignments, or parts of assignments, may be postponed to a later date.
