Lesson 17a.

NOTE 1: Be sure to read Homework Format, Homework Writing Policy, and Explanations Expected BEFORE writing up your solutions to be turned in.

NOTE 2: When two or more Lessons are to be turned in on the same day, please staple the Lessons separately and turn them in separately.
(This is Lesson 17a; if another Lesson is due the same day as this Lesson is due, staple the two Lessons separately and turn them in separately.)

Due Wednesday, October 7.

Sect. 4.5:
Be sure to note that there are many more exercises suggested in the suggested homework posted online.

Read the instructions and comments below. That's why they are there!

As usual, if a problem requires finding the vertex of a parabola (this includes finding max or min), do so by completing the square.

Exercise  34.
Be sure to note carefully which area you are asked to maximize, and be sure to note what specific geometric quantities you are asked to find. Also, if you claim that something gives a maximum, you should always explain why. Don't just do some calculations and let the reader of your paper figure out for himself (herself) that you have found a maximum and why.

NOTE 1: Be sure to read Homework Format, Homework Writing Policy, and Explanations Expected BEFORE writing up your solutions to be turned in.

NOTE: As stated on the Course Home Page, all due dates are tentative. Assignments, or parts of assignments, may be postponed to a later date.
