Due Wednesday, December 2.

Sect. 7.3:
Be sure to note that there are many more exercises suggested in the list of suggested homework posted online.

This Lesson is essentially the same as Lesson 48. But see the more specific instructions below.

Click here for a pdf version, Lesson 48a.

The point of finding amplitude, period, and phase shift in Exercises 28 and 34 is to USE this information, as was done in class and is done in the examples in the textbook, to draw the graphs requested. The point is NOT to calculuate this information in part (a) of the Exercise and then forget this information and use your calculator to draw the graph requested. On the other hand, you can, as always, CHECK your graph using your calculator.
Exercises  28*,  34*(a)(b)(d),  42,  44 .
* In Exercises 28 and 34, draw (at least) two graphs: FIRST, draw the graph of the given function WITHOUT a phase shift (so the amplitude and period are the same as the given function, but the phase shift is zero). THEN, obtain the graph of the function as requested in the Exercise by shifting the first graph.
Give exact values as well as decimal approximations for the intercepts and the hoarizontal coordinates of the high points and low points of your final graphs.

Your answers may have to involve WORDS and EXPLANATIONS and SENTENCES.

NOTE:
These problems have instructions in the textbook.
These problems have instructions given above.
You are expected to note the instructions.
You are expected to read the instructions.
You are expected to follow the instructions.
You will lose points -- perhaps a substantial number of points -- if you do not read and follow the instructions.

NOTE 1: Be sure to read Homework Format, Homework Writing Policy, and Explanations Expected BEFORE writing up your solutions to be turned in.

NOTE: As stated on the Course Home Page, all due dates are tentative. Assignments, or parts of assignments, may be postponed to a later date.
