The official purpose of MathCats is to foster community
among math majors and to spark mathematical interest in everyone
else. Our goal for this semester
is to create a math culture at the University of Arizona that reaches
from the Math Department across the entire campus. |

This fall, MathCats will be running AMUC (Arizona Mathematics Undergraduate Conference) ! We also will be coordinating Math Awareness Week in the spring and holding a campus-wide celebration of Pi Day (3/14). We will have several luncheons with visiting mathematicians throughout the semester, talks featuring local mathematicians, and workshops on math-related subjects. Students interested in the Putnam Examination should email me, as we will be having practice and study sessions for those taking the exam. We may also hold math-related events, tutoring, and workshops at local public schools. Details as this idea develops. |
