Course Syllabus (tentative)
Week 1
- Day 1: Introduction, motivation, 13.1 (definitions, algebra of complex numbers). 13.2 (polar coordinate form of complex numbers, Euler's formula, products, ratios, roots,
roots of a complex number, triangle inequality).
- Day 2: 13.3 (function of a complex variable, limits, continuity, differentiability).
Week 2
- Day 1: 13.3 & 13.4 (rules for continuity, limits and differentiation, analytic functions, Cauchy-Riemann equations, applications).
- Day 2: 13.5 & 13.6 Concept tests. Complex exponential, trigonometric and hyperbolic functions.
13.7 Complex logarithm. Concept tests.
Week 3
- Day 1: 7.1, 7.2 & 7.4 (matrices and vectors, linear independence).
- Day 2: 7.4 (vector spaces, bases and dimension, null space, column space, rank)
Week 4
- Day 1: 7.5 (linear systems, determinant of a square matrix).
- Day 2: 7.8 & 7.5 (determinants, inverse, linear systems of n equations with n unknowns)
Week 5
