Martin Leslie | Mathematical Interests

I am currently studying quantum error correction and LDPC codes but I also have interests in various areas of coding theory, algebra, number theory and cryptography. I don't have much to put on this page at the moment so I will simply put up a few documents that I have produced in various classes. There is no guarantee of correctness (in fact I guarantee mistakes in some documents - maybe I'll fix some someday).

• Slides from a short talk based on a paper of Koch about self dual codes of order 32 that I gave for MATH518 - Integral Lattices.
• Slides from a talk on error-correcting codes I gave in the applied math brown bag seminar in Spring 2009.
• Slides from a talk on differential algebra I gave in the grad student colloquium in Spring 2009.

• In MATH536A - Algebraic Geometry I wrote an expository paper on Groebner bases.
• Some slides from a talk on elliptic curves I gave in the grad student colloquium in Fall 2008. Also the input/output from some calculations in Sage.
• I wrote my Honours Thesis on Descent on Elliptic Curves. I also have slides from the talk I gave.
• In MATH4303 - Advanced Combinatorics I completed a project on Elliptic curve cryptography. Handouts for my speech are here.
• In MATH3302 - Coding and Cryptography I completed my project on Mental Poker. I also have slides from a short talk I gave on the topic.
