My name is Patrik Nabelek. I have been a student in the PhD program in applied math at the University of Arizona since the fall of 2012. My doctoral advisor is Ken McLaughlin. I have been enjoying my time in the sun in beautiful Tucson, Arizona.

Research Interests

I am interested in forward and inverse spectral theory of differential operators, and on their connections to the theory completely integrable partial differential equations. In particular I am particularly interested in approaches based on Riemann-Hilbert problems. I am currently working with Ken McLaughlin on a Riemann-Hilbert problem formulation of the inverse spectral problem of Hill’s operators with infinitely many spectral gaps.

During fall semester of 2013 I worked on a research tutorial with Doug Pickrell in which we investigated the spaces of harmonic maps from compact Riemann Surfaces with boundary to smooth manifolds from the point of view as a functor from Siegel's category of compact Riemann surfaces with boundary to Wienstein's symplectic category. A write up for this research tutorial can be found here http://arxiv.org/abs/1404.2899.
