I am seeking a candidate for an internship this summer at Genentech's South San Francisco campus, helping me analyze MRI images of the heart in mice and rats. The project I have in mind is to implement and compare some of the published methods for semi-automatic feature recognition (delineating the endo- and epi-cardial borders) in short-axis MRI images of the heart, using data from our transgenic mice or rats in novel drug efficacy studies. A good candidate would probably be familiar with MATLAB or image analysis, and perhaps fuzzy logic since that is the basis for several interesting techniques. Internships are paid, usually last 6 to 12 weeks, and are described on our web site at http://www.gene.com/Career/internship.html Interested students should review the web site and contact Simon for more information as soon as possible: Simon Williams Neuroscience Department, MS Genentech, Inc. 1 DNA Way South San Francisco, CA 94080 simonw@gene.com phone: (650)-225-4292 FAX: (650)-225-5688
