Center Astronomical Adaptive Optics Adaptive Optics is also looking for a student assistant for the summer to begin in two weeks. Work involves general optics lab help with projects as MMT AO Secondary, High Resolution Echelle Spectrograph, Gossamer Space Mirror. Tasks involve mostly running errands in UofA vehicle and helping with instrument construction. Some exposure to conducting engineering tests and measurements, proof of concept model design and fabrication, optical bench layout using various types of lasers, beam spliters, gratings, optical fibers, lens assemblies, CCD and video cameras. Good position for student interested in exposure to areas as engineering, optics, physics and astronomy. Pays $5.15 for student without experience. Pays more if student has some experience.
