One of our alumni, Rory Toma, who works for WebTV has informed me that his
company is seeking to hire UA physics students to do paid internships. The
work would be almost independent-study-like, in the sense that the bulk of
the work would be done right here in AZ. salary, benefits, etc. are
negotiable, and details of the projects are below. This is an excellent

indicated that if there is enough interest, he might fly down to chat with

We currently have 3 areas where we think we can manange student projects:

1. Machine config management: Tools to manange differences in lots of
machines. Ideally, we would like a machine-level CVS system.
2. Anomoly detection. We have tons of data that we collect on our systems.
We would like to be able to automagically detect anomolies.
3. Spam work: We have some ideas on how to better get a handle on spam.
