Textbook: Rotman, Advanced Modern Algebra
Syllabus: In the two semesters, we will cover as much of the
textbook as we can (though certainly far from all of it). Ideally we
will
cover most of Chapters 2 through 5, and portions of chapters 6 through 10.
Grades: There will be weekly homework assigments (usually due
on Wednesdays); two midterm exams, on September 27 and (revised)
November 15; and a
final exam. The homework, the midterms, and the final are each worth 25%
of your grade.
