There is a sequel, Advanced Algebra, that is listed as a
recommended text.
Syllabus: Multilinear algebra, commutative rings and their
modules, fields and Galois theory. Additional topics, time permitting,
may include an introduction
to representation theory, and/or an introduction to homological algebra.
Grades: There will be weekly homework assigments (usually due
on Fridays), worth 25% of the grade; two midterm exams, each worth 20% of
the grade; and a final exam, worth 35% of the grade. If it helps your
grade, I will drop the lowest of the two midterms. The midterms will be
on Wednesday, February 13 and Wednesday, March 26.
