- D if you earn 60%
- ``W'' : A grade of ``W'' will be given to anyone who withdrwaws from the class before September 20. A ``W'' will also be given to any student withdrawing after September 20th and before November 1st who is passing the class at the time.
- ``I'': An incomplete grade,''I'' will be given only if all of the conditions below are met:

- at least 50% of the points have been earned on all tests up to this time
- a valid excuse is given
- course work is made up in a short period of time

**Exams:**
There will be three hour exams and a common (departmental wide) final comprehensive exam. If you must miss an exam, you must have a legitimate excuse and inform me before the exam, if possible, or as soon as possible in an emergency situation. The exam must be made up within one week and preferably before the next class meeting. You must extend the final exam at the specified date and time. NO make up final exam will be given for any reason other than a conflict such as 3 finals on the same day. If you have such a conflict talk to me about it early in the semester and we will follow the University guidelines for rescheduling.

**Homework:**
Homework will be assigned from each section of the book and collected every Friday. Late homework will receive no credit.

**Computer Quizzes:**
There will be ten computer quizzes worth a total of 100 points. See handout for details concerning computer quizzes.

**Tutoring:**
The math department offers free tutoring. The hours are M-F 8:00am - 5:00 pm. The location is the Temporary Teaching Lab. It is also useful to form study groups with other students in the class.

**Attendence:**
Attendence is very important in this class. You are responsible for all material covered in class, for obtaining all material distributed in any class, and for knowing every change in either a homework assignment or exam schedule that is announced in class.
