Scientific Workplace is a wordprocessor that integrates LaTex typesetting and computer algebra. It is an easy front end for those wishing to write and view LaTeX files. (It can also be used as a WYSIWYG word processor.) With the built-in computer algebra system (MuPad), you have the capability - completely within your word processor - of doing numerical and symbolic integral/differential calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, matrix algebra, trigonometry, equation solving, etc. as well as simple plots and graphics. It has a marvelous screen editor, so what you see while you type your document looks like a typeset, printed book. (No single command line hieroglyphics. You needn't know anything about TeX. However, if you are "TeXie", you can delve into the TeX code if you want.) SWP has many other bells and whistles like export to pdf and rtf files, exam builder, direct links to the internet, etc.
Scientific Workplace (SWP) is a proprietary software published by MacKichan Software Inc. For information on prices, support, documentation, and other related similar products by the company please visit their website.
