Bunnies

Hi. I am Brainy. My myriad nicknames plus my real name "Brian" couldn't stand the test of time. I am a real good boy. In fact, Mommy always says I am the "bestest" :-)

I love chewing up cardboard tunnels, doing my happy bunny dances when I get my carrot, napping in my cottontail cottage and sitting by Mommy or Daddy so that they can rub my nose and scratch my ears and give me a back massage. Before we moved to the desert, back in Chicago, Mommy lived with Squiggy and me in her little studio. Mommy would let me hop onto her futon and stomp on her comforter. And I got to jump onto the window sill, sit there and enjoy the view.

Mommy and Daddy are real softies when it comes to refusing us treats. We will go run around their legs, stand up on our hind legs and strike up our cute begging pose. Eight out of ten times, Mommy will go get us some treats. Our stash includes apples, carrots, strawberries, bananas, peaches (freeze dry or fresh), freeze dry mangoes and pineapples, fresh grapes or raisins etc. We then run around the room with our treats to find a safe place to munch in peace.

Squiggy is my bunny friend. In my bachelor days, I was Mommy's and Daddy's world. I would nap with Daddy, rub noses with Mommy.. because they were my world too. Now there is Squiggy, my Squiggy. Mommy says we used to fight a lot when Squiggy first came home with us but I find it hard to believe.

I am supposed to be "Sabrina". I have been called many names, among which -- "Girly". That has changed. I was mad about that name and would do many crazy things to protest.... until one day, Mommy called me "Squiggy" and I liked it.

I used to be very very scared of non-bunnies. I was scared of Mommy and Daddy and I didn't like anybody else, except Brainy. When big people walked towards me or reached out for me with their hands, I ran away as fast as I could and thumped and thumped and thumped so that they knew I was very upset.

I am a lot more confident now. Sometimes, I will let Mommy and Daddy pet me. But mostly I am still very nervous about it. I like being kissed though. That's how I know Mommy and Daddy love me, when they communicate with me the bunny way.

Mommy says I am a crazy little bunny when I am such a scaredy cat. I like gnawing things like walls, plastic, wires, velcro, carpet etc. And I love to dig. I used to dig our litterboxes and drive Mommy crazy. I also like to push things with my platform head. Once, I pushed the pen open and went to Mommy's and Daddy's bedroom to visit them. Mommy yelled out "Squiggy" in surprise and that scared the little bunny out of me. I turned back and ran and then the bikes fell on me and I still tried to run ... When I finally got back to our room and Mommy came after me, I thumped at her to tell her how upset and scared I was. So, Mommy picked me up (despite my trying to escape again) and babied me until I calmed down.

I like Mommy's cleaning time. While Mommy crawls over the floor destroying our masterpieces, I love to hop around, under, across Mommy while she works. Mommy is such a good playground when she is not in any position to grab me.
