Girls and Technology
Classroom environment shapes the way students feel in such areas as respect for one another, extent of mathematical engagement that takes place in the class and whether students feel safe to explore their thinking
Typically boys develop a discourse pattern where they dominate the discussion and girls take a back seat. Girls generally seek the teacher’s approval for being quiet and doing their work where as boys act out more often for attention, are asked clarifying questions to probe their thinking and in general receive more teacher praise for accurate answers. Girls are generally praised for their looks.
