To Check For .NET Framework 1.1

ICS-SAR requires that Windows XP has been updated by installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. You must have Administrator privileges to update the operating system.

You can check to see if the .NET Framework 1.1 is installed by clicking Start on your Windows desktop, selecting Control Panel, and then double-clicking the Add or Remove Programs icon. When that window appears, scroll through the list of applications. If you see "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1" listed, it is installed.

Alternatively, you can check to see if the .NET Framework 1.1 is installed by downloading the file, unzipping it, and running it.

If the .NET Framework 1.1 is not installed, then there are two different ways to install it.

Some have mistakenly downloaded the ".NET Framework SDK Version 1.1", which is the Software Development Kit and is 106 MB. You do NOT need this.

 To Download ICS-SAR

This is an alpha version of ICS-SAR. It has received no field testing. It is designed to run under Windows XP if Windows has been updated by installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

This program may be freely distributed by any means, including the web, provided that there is no fee or charge or consideration of any kind which is in excess of $8. However, we retain all the rights of the program.

 To Install ICS-SAR

To install ICS-SAR, unzip and run InstallICS-SAR.exe. You will be asked where you want to save the ICS-SAR, and whether you want a shortcut created on the Desktop. ICS-SAR does not make any changes to your operating system and uninstalls cleanly. It can be run from a hard drive, a zip drive, or a thumb drive (assuming the files created by ICS-SAR can be saved to folder that contains the application).

To run ICS-SAR, either use the shortcut on the Desktop or move to the folder containing the files and select the application ICS-SAR, that is, ICS-SAR.exe. Windows must first be updated by installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

If you find any bugs, please cut and paste any error messages, describe what you were doing at the time, and email this information, together with the ICS-SAR version number, to me: David Lovelock at Thank you.

 To Upgrade ICS-SAR

To upgrade, make sure that ICS-SAR is not running and then overwrite the old ICS-SAR files with the upgraded ICS-SAR files.

 To Uninstall ICS-SAR

To uninstall ICS-SAR, delete the folder containing the ICS-SAR files, and delete the shortcut on the Desktop.
