QUIZZES, TESTS and FINAL EXAMINATION:
Quizzes will be given about once a week - the lowest two scores are dropped. There will be no makeup quizzes.
There will be 4 in-class tests. Test 1 will be on Wednesday September 18. Test 2 : Wednesday October 16. Test 3 : Wednesday November 6. Test 4 : Wednesday December 4.
There will be a two-hour final examination on Wednesday December 18, 8:00 - 10:00. Last class: Wednesday December 11.

HOMEWORK and READINGS: Homework and readings will be assigned but will not count towards your final grade. However, these exercises and readings may come up on quizzes or tests.

GRADING POLICY:
Quizzes: 100 points
Tests 1 - 4: 400 points
Final Exam: 200 points
A: 90% B: 80% C: 70% D: 60%

MISSED TESTS and MAKE-UPS: A missed test scores zero, except in the case of a fully documented, legitimate excuse which is acceptable to the instructor. If you know you will miss a test, call 621-6855 before the test and leave a message and a telephone number where you can be reached. Students whose excuses are deemed acceptable will be given make-ups at the instructor's convenience.

POLICY ON GRADES OF W, E, and I: The University policy on these grades is enforced.
a) Until Friday September 20, you may drop the course without my approval.
b) Should you wish to drop the course between September 21 and Friday October 18, you will be awarded a "W".
c) The grade of "I" (incomplete) is reserved for students who cannot complete a SMALL portion of the course for unavoidable reasons. The final examination is usually regarded as a LARGE portion of the course.

TIME SPENT ON THIS COURSE OUT OF CLASS: A general rule-of-thumb is that you should spend a minimum of two hours per week for each one hour of class time. Thus, you should expect to spend at least six hours a week working on this material out of class.

OFFICE HOURS: MWF 7:30 - 8:00 (in Math 101) and 9:00 - 9:50 (in Math 314). Open-door policy, and by appointment. I will also use EMAIL to answer your questions.

REMINDERS: It is the student's responsibility to be aware of all announcements (both written and oral) made in class. It is also the student's responsibility to be informed of University policies described in the catalog, and in the "Code of Academic Integrity".
