Mathematics 466
Theory of Statistics
Spring 2008
Project
Each student is to
complete a small project.
The report for the
project will have three parts.
1.
A description of the question and the data
This
part should contain sufficient background so that the reader understands what
are the issues in statistics that need to be addressed and the nature of the
data collected to address the statistical questions.
2.
Statistical analysis of the data
In
this section, us the software program R to assist you in your analysis. If the
question is one of estimation, then include an interval estimate like a
confidence interval. If the question results in a hypothesis test, then try to
give a power analysis. Provide a justification of your methods.
3.
Implications of the analysis
Give your conclusions based on the outcome of the computations
performed in the second section. Provide suggestions for future questions that result
from your conclusions.
