THE CATTS TEACHING FELLOWSHIP
$10,000 stipend

What is CATTS?

  • The University of Arizona has received a prestigious Graduate Teaching Fellowship in K-12 Education award from the national Science Foundation to develop CATTS, a program of outreach to K-12 schools. CATTS will build on our long and successful tradition of working with K-12 schools to improve science and mathematics education.

    Becoming a Fellow

    • CATTS seeks applications from graduate and undergraduate students majoring in science, mathematics, engineering or technology who desire to learn more about teaching, learning, and integrating research in the classroom.
    • Students selected for a CATTS Fellowship will work 15 hours per week on fellowship activities, enroll in a pre-fellowship workshop and participate in a weekly seminar during the fellowship.
    • The program will fund up to fifteen graduate students and fifteen undergraduate students each year.

  • Biomedical Research Training Program for Underrepresented Minorities
    $16,900 stipend for junior year, $17,400 for senior year

  • The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland has established the Biomedical Research Training Program for Underrepresented Minorites (BRTPUM). This program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to receive training in fundamental sciences and clinical disciplines in the biomedical research field
  • The trainees will work closely with leading NHLBI research investigators within the Division of Intramural Research or the Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Applications. The training period is 12 to 24 months. Trainees selected for the pgroram will be required to work during the summer and/or at least one academic break period during the year. The total training period cannnot exceed 24 consecutive months.
