BACHELOR OF ARTS - ECONOMICS OR FINANCE OPTION
2004-2005
Students seeking a BA in Mathematics must have fourth semester proficiency in a second language.

Since the BA degree is not science-intensive, students seeking the BA in Mathematics need not complete science requirements outside those specificed in the University general education requirements.

This option is for students with a particular interest in business applications of mathematics, especially those preparing for graduate school in either Economics or Finance. For this option, the minor must be in either Economics or Finance and should be chosen in consultation with an advisor.

THE CORE COURSES: Should be completed by the end of the sophomore year.

OPTION COURSES
One of the following two courses:
MATH 410   Matrix Analysis

MATH 413   Linear Algebra

One of the following three courses:
MATH 425B  Real Analysis of Several Variables

MATH 466   Theory of Statistics

MATH 479   Game Theory and Mathematical Programming

And a fifth 400-level course, chosen in consultation with your faculty advisor.

PLEASE NOTE: Students wanting to have a minor in Finance will have to take all course work for the minor during summer sessions. Alternatively, a student interested in Finance may pursue a second degree program in Finance.
