Services and Membership Information

Member schools have used the wide variety of PRIME support services to meet the individual needs of each staff and its students. The opportunities provided by the program include:

1) Access to general professional development services:

ï the opportunity for teachers to attend monthly Energizer workshops held on Saturdays

ï use of material in the PRIME curriculum library

ï communication about mathematics opportunities for teachers and students

ï access to a "Math Help Line" for teachers to call when they have questions about mathematical concepts or research in mathematics education

2) Fifty (50) hours of school-specific services such as:

ï workshops at the school site offering lessons to be used with students and/or mathematics content instruction for teachers

ï classrooms visits in which implementation of innovative lessons is modeled

ï lessons created for the specific classroom needs of teachers in participating schools

ï assistance for teachers who are implementing instruction using computers and calculators

ï classroom observations with feedback on instruction

ï assistance in planning for instruction or a math event (Math Theme days, Family Math Nights)

Membership in the PRIME Extension Consortium costs $2500 for a full year or $1250 for Spring only. The fee is payable to the University of Arizona. An inter-agency agreement allows the transaction of funds. Tucson-area school districts which currently have this agreement in place are: Catalina Foothills, Flowing Wells, Tanque Verde, Tucson Unified, Sunnyside, Marana. Schools in other districts are welcome to enroll once their district processes this paperwork.
