Experimental Software Account

Welcome to the experimental software account, a repository of department Linux software that is not installed locally on each machine either because there hasn't been time to do so, or because the software here is newer/experimental/unstable/beta as compared to what is installed on each machine. For each software package here, you decide, on a case-by-case basis, whether you wish to use that package.

WARNING: As software becomes stable, or we have time to install it locally on each machine, or if instabilities require us to remove it from here, this repository will change without warning. (We intend to record our changes on the History page, but may forget to do so.) If commands that used to work for you stop working, or behave differently, it is your responsibility to check on this site whether you are attempting to use software that is no longer here, in which case you must undo the configuration you made when you first started using that package. Participation is voluntary, and you are responsible for your participation. The computer staff does not know who participates, and cannot predict how system-side changes, local computer changes, or changes inside this account might affect particular users.
