History of the Project
- Seed money from Dean and Provost ($25,000 each).
- A chance for departments to formulate home-grown strategies
rather than respond to externally imposed ones.
- Strategies based on facts and evidence---this project provides
funding for gathering them.
- Provost has committed to seeking
funding for meritorious large-scale projects that emerge.
Department of Physics
- Internal self-study followed by a site-visit by the APS
Committee on the Status of Women in Physics
Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences
- Improving minority student recruitment survey/interview of
high school counselors and students.
Department of Mathematics
- Investigation of the leaky pipeline hypothesis; analysis of
applicant pool for faculty positions.
Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry (joint proposal)
- Presentation of gender analysis of chemistry departments by
Valerie Kuck
- Workshop on negotiation skills
- Analysis of recommendation letters in Chemistry and Biochemistry
