Textbooks: Complex Analysis, by Lars Ahlfors

Though I am planning to follow the textbook (this is why I chose it in the first place,) some topics will be covered a little differently than Ahlfors does. Sometimes I may write notes. I will assign homeworks on a regular basis. There will be no mid-semester exams. On November 22, I will post the take-home exam problems; their solutions are due on December 6. The final grade will be assigned based on your homework and on the take-home exam. No formal point system will be used. The grade of ``I'' can be awarded only in an exceptional case to a student who has a valid reason for not completing the course in time (illness, solid family reasons), and who has shown a passing performance in class.

Problem sets:
1. Due on August 30: From Chapter 1: Sec. 2.1, problem 2; Sec. 2.2, problems 4,5; Sec. 2.3, problems 4, 5; sec. 2.4, problem 1.
2. Due on September 8: Problems 4, p.28; 4, 5, 6, p. 33; 3, 6, p. 41
3. Due on September 22: Problems 3, 4, p. 80; 2, 7, p. 83; 1, 2, 3, p. 88
