Class meets on TTh from 2:00 to 3:15 in MATHE246

Textbook: Partial Differential Equations, by Lawrence C. Evans

In the Spring semester, I am planning to cover chapters 5--7 from the textbook and, in addition, some basic notions from micro-local analysis. Homework problems will be assigned from time to time. Homework assignments and the dates when they are due will be posted on this web site.

There will be no exams. In the end of the semester, everybody will be expected to make a 30-minute presentation. Topics for the presentations will be distributed right before the Spring Break. The final grade will be assigned based on your homework and the presentation. No formal point system will be used. The grade ``W'' will be awarded to any student who requests this grade before or on March 9. The grade of ``I'' can be awarded only in an exceptional case to a student who has a valid reason for not completing the course in time (illness, solid family reasons), and who has shown a passing performance in class.

There will be no formal office hours. Though the door of my office is usually closed, I will have "an open door" policy (to make the door open please knock!): I will be willing and ready to talk to you if I am around and not particularly busy. Alternatively, you may send me an e-mail, and I will make an appointment for a particular time slot.
